Retrain Messages

Occasionally, the filtering system may misclassify messages, resulting in incorrect placement of emails.

When a message is wrongly classified as spam, it is known as a false positive. Conversely, a false negative occurs when a message is erroneously classified as not spam. Essentially, false positive messages are diverted to the spam folder instead of the inbox, whereas false negative messages reach the inbox instead of the spam folder.

We have several methods to help retrain our system so that it doesn’t make the same mistake again:

  1. In your configured IMAP account or in Webmail, simply drag the message from the Inbox to the Spam folder or vice-versa and keep it there at least overnight
  2. Retrain using the Spam Quarantine feature of the User Control Panel
  3. Go to Inspedium Email
  4. Login to your account using your full e-mail address (e.g. [email protected]) and current password.
  5. Click on the Spam Quarantine icon.
  6. Search for the Spam message by selecting the appropriate date, optionally defining a search term, and clicking on the Display button.
  7. Mark the checkbox next to the desired email and click on one of the following buttons: deliver and whitelist the sender, deliver only, or delete.
  8. Forward the offending message to the specific retraining address as defined by your Administrator. Usually, these addresses are of the form: [email protected] and [email protected].
